So after the room fiasco everything with the hotel went smoothly. The beach was full of life with every day being a different theme. Jamaica, Copacabana, Thai, Malibu, and Daytona were some of the themes and the entertainment staff would dress according to the day. There were always different events like a giant hamster ball, bubble soccer, volleyball, and even beer pong! The buffet food at the hotel was mediocre but the nicer restaurants - which you do not have to make reservations! - had very good food. The French restaurant was our favorite. The rooms were sufficient, nothing fancy but nice. The bed was comfortable and the shower was big enough for two :). The main complaints we had were the following:
-manager was supposed to be in touch with me and never did
-better buffet food
-there was no swim up bar in the regular sections (only one was in the adult side)
-the only bar you could sit at was the lobby bar
-the beach bar was on the adult side of the beach..not convenient
-no waiters on the beach
The last day we were there we did the Give me All Challenge at Selvatica. This was $200 which is pricey but well worth it. We started the day with a swim in a cenote followed by driving a Polaris through the jungle. Then we went on to do the tarzan which is an extremely high roller coaster that you hang from by a harness and hold on to handle bars over head. Then we went on to do the bungee jump and the sky walk followed by the super man and a short break. After that, all zip lines!! This is a must for anyone who is an adrenaline junky!!
All in all, it was a good trip. The water We love Riviera Maya and will definitely continue to visit.
